From the workshop of Letal:

“1990. Love that year.

I guess I tried to keep things faithful and yet a little less goofy, if such thing is possible. I like to think CGI having his 1st MOS as Anti-Tank Specialist … a nemesis for Metal-Head maybe. His main weapon bothered me because there was no protection from the blast of the missiles, so I modified the one you see here to look a little less dangerous to the user

Anyway… does this guy work? Let me know if you will”

From the workshop of Vegabond:

“This project comes from one of my favorite storylines of all time from the comics! As seen in Marvel issue #55, Cobra Commander and Destro take off there masks and don wigs and fake beards! My question has always been if no one knows what you look like why go in disguise? So I am thinking they look pretty much like this!

I sculpted Cobra Commanders torso tie and vest, and all the facial hair on both, I love how they turned out! Hope you enjoy!”

From the workshop of ozzie92:

“When Icecreamman invited to me to join this project, I immediately began to brainstorm Joes whose MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) had not seen the light of day in Joe lore. As I had yet to customize a completely new character, I relished the challenge. I decided on a Navy Plane Captain, Ace’s #1 most trusted partner in arms, who would perform flight line checks/etc. on his Skystriker aboard the U.S.S. Flagg. I also wanted to give him a Japanese American heritage, as their amazing W.W. II heroics in defense of our country is sadly very much unknown by the masses. I HIGHLY recommend reading up on Senator Inouye, as well as the rest of the heroes from the 100th and 442nd RCT. The 442nd RCT patch, seen on my character’s left shoulder and back of the helmet, is the red/blue/white badge with the arm upholding a torch.

Here is the story behind his codename, “Doublenuts”:

The Navy squadron aircraft with “00” (Doublenuts) designation on its tail is the plane that has the Air Wing Commander’s name on the canopy rail, in place of a pilot’s name. Since Air Wing Commander is the aspiration of my character, I thought it would be funny if Ace jokingly called him that; hence the codename. Check out the file card!

I probably had the most fun trying to replicate the plane hooks (which I believe are used to tie down the aircraft to the flight deck during rough seas).”

Thanks to OG13 member Ooyah for the heads up! Larry Hama will be attending the Action Figure Expo next weekend in Toronto.

2014 Guest Information

larry-hamaLARRY HAMA
Larry Hama is best known to fans as writer of the Marvel Comics licensed series G.I. Joe, based on the Hasbro line of military action figures. Hama said in a 2006 interview that he was given the job by then editor-in-chief Jim Shooter after every other writer at Marvel had turned it down. Hama at the time had recently pitched a Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off series, Fury Force, about a special mission force. Hama used this concept as the back-story for G.I. Joe. He included military terms and strategies, Eastern philosophy, martial arts and historical references from his own background. The comic ran 155 issues (February 1982-October 1994).

Hama also wrote the majority of the G.I. Joe action figures’ file cards—short biographical sketches designed to be clipped from the G.I. Joe and Cobra cardboard packaging.[9] In 2007 these filecards were reprinted in the retro packaging for the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero 25th Anniversary line.

At the 11th Annual Action Figure Expo Mr. Hama will be signing and meeting with the attendees as day long.

[CUSTOMS] Bazooka “Zook” by ska_lives

From the workshop of ska_lives:

“This figure was my first entry into the GI Joe: RELOADED project that Icecreamman is putting on(go check the entries out!). I had this figure pieced together for MONTHS prior to this, because he was going to be a regular Bazooka custom, but I just couldnt figure out what I wanted to do with the jersey.
Reloaded came along, and I decided that since this was set in the near future I would repurpose the custom and make it into a relative of an original Joe member. Thus ‘Zook, the son of the original Bazooka was born. I opted to make him a Rugby player because it would allow me to give him a jersey number without painting numbers across the split of the torso, and it would work well for incorporating the Joe logo as a team seal. From there is was just painting and some washes, then voila!
I hoped you enjoy, and that you enjoy all of the hard work everyone has put into RELOADED!”
