G.I. Joe Con 2014 – Dallas, Texas
Hello everyone!
GI Joe’s 50th Birthday will be celebrated April 10-13 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.
You can make your hotel reservations now by going to GIJoeCon.com. The room rate is $142 and they will require a one night’s deposit with your reservation. Don’t wait until the rooms are all gone!
This will be a grand celebration of the world’s first action figure! More details will be available in the coming weeks at GIJoeCon.com. Soon we will start posting the convention set details and we hope to have registration up by Thanksgiving (we are currently in the middle of a total re-write of the registration system to serve you better).
See you in Dallas!
OG13 Front Page Nominations
At OG13 we try to highlight different members and different types of content on our Front Page.
Do we succeed? Admittedly we are better some days than others, sometimes real life catches up with our staff, and sometimes you, the members, put out amazing content with such frequency that we cannot even begin to capture even a cross section of the work being done.
That being said – to help our staff know what is important to you I offer a thread for people to nominate those things that are “front page” worthy.

Oreobuilders GI Joe Train
From OreoBuilder’s Joe-Verse:
“About 5 years ago, I decided that it was time to finally make the train that I always wanted for my Joes. I looked into different scales of trains that I could buy and modify. One day, I bought a Playmobil box car on super clearance for 5$. When I stood ME Joes next to it, it looked good, so I set out to buy all the cars and the engine and paint them.
After a few false starts and waiting for the latest Playmo train to arrive, here it is: My GI Joe train!”
OG13 is thrilled that Oreabuilder brought this amazing custom to our pages.
This one picture does not do this masterpiece justice.

REVIEW: TMNT Shredder – Version 2 – SDCC 2013 Exclusive (by Lantern Lad)
From the desk of Lantern Lad:
“The other day I get an email from BBTS saying “SDCC Exclusive TMNT Shredder figure Up Pre-Order“. I, being hopelessly addicted to the TMNT line and cartoon jumped at the chance to pick up the only other SDCC exclusive I missed out on! To my surprise, the figure processed and shipped within 2 weeks time, arriving on my doorstep this afternoon!
This version of the figure is also being released in stores in a non-chromed version later this year, early next year according to the catalogs that come with each figure. So though, you may not get this chrome version, the sculpt and figure are coming!
The package (front):
Very nice 4-color packaging with spot varnish on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles logo. What I wasn’t happy with was that the SDCC2013 Exclusive decal was removed, leaving adhesive goo (ooze, if you will ) and some of the package artwork removed.”
From the generous mind of SB Cobra:
“This is pretty straight forward. I put this up for auction/sale and %65 goes to the WWProject directly, %15 to cover shipping and fee’s, and the rest gets rolled over into buying another vehicle to keep building ’em 6-8weeks in rotation so I can keep giving to charity; specifically to Wounded Warrior and Ride to Recovery. These are two programs aimed to help out warfighter’s in their times of need. I can personally say that both are GREAT groups and charities that help more than can be expressed. They’ve helped me before, so now I’m doing what I can to give back.”
CUSTOMS: Cobra Unit: The Sorrow (MGS3) by ska_lives
From the workshop of ska_lives:
“This is number 2 in my MGS3 series; boss character, The Sorrow. This was a fun figure to make, and an interesting character in that he was never alive in the game. The red streak down his face is the bloody tears from the wound given to him by his lover when she shot him.”
