“This is an older project, I think around 2010 or 2009 maybe. It started out as a personal project, and then someone offered to purchase it, so it went out the door… created from a ChapMei snake and some SDS parts and random fodder stuffs. I wanted something a little Lovecraftian for ol’ Golob since the story of Cobra-La seemed just a tad Lovecraftian to me when I first read it.”

Cobra Zhen la Custom

This custom is part of a group of customs that I have been catching up with, creating a past before cobra La existed; there was cobra zhen La. When I have time, I will post more customs of created characters and lay down some story tales. This is for fun.
Enjoy .

Esthania & Baby Pythona

Esthania is the gut wrenching warrior and female chancellor of a magnified group of highly trained female warriors. She takes her sister’s place raising her niece Pythona, based on her sister’s death as she was slaughtered by the enemy dragon. She stands strong, taking responsibility to deliver and grow a unpredictable, skillful warrior that is loyal to serve Golobulos. The child will grow, frequently trained in physical trials, specializing in mastering stealth, infiltration, espionage, assassination, sabotage and learning the dark arts of organic weapons. Esthania will pass on her sister’s organic weapons to develop growth in the art of war.”

Staff member TofuNinja was out and about today (Boxer Day) and noticed that Target has returned G.I. Joe toys to their in aisle peg homes. This is good news as promotions for the new movie are sure to really take off shortly. The figures found by Tofu are of the same wave (wave 1?) that was released widely when the movie was first supposed to come out.  Target also had the blue H.I.S.S. Tank and the Ghost Hawk. The Figures are at the $10 price point. I did not get a look at the price of the vehicles.

From the desk of Phantom Stranger:

Before we begin, I’d like to point out this was pretty much the subject that started the Showcase section. I was replying to a question about the origins of Christmas over in BoB. I went over it from Yule to Rome and briefly the Victorian era. This one is going to be covering a lot more but still compact by most standards.

The Norse celebrated a holiday called Yule, this took place around Dec 21st. Activities included slaughtering the year’s bounty of animals for meat, Yule singing, and of course the Yule Log. The men (normally fathers and sons) would go out and find the biggest log they could find to bring back home to light aflame. The log was symbolic of warmth in the dead of winter, and it was said that every ember was to be a new animal born in the coming years spring. During the 12 days the log burned, feasting was abundant, as winter was one of the few times meat was is good supply. Also dragged in were Evergreen Trees, a symbol that even when the year is at it’s lowest, life can endure.

In Germany the Norse God Odin was believed to take nocturnal flights to decide who would prosper in the coming year and who would perish. The children would leave vegetables and sweets snacks for Odin’s horse, Sleipnir. In return for the act of kindness, Odin would leave gifts or candy in the clogs or boots of the children…

Merry Christmas, and all of the good stuff that comes along with it. As discussed, nominations for OGer of the Year ended yesterday. Today, we start the voting process.

You can vote for more than one person, but once you have submitted your votes, you will not be able to vote again.

Anyone who was nominated twice will end up with an additional point on their count. Anyone nominated three times gets two points added to their total at the end of the count.

Example: If Tiny Tim was nominated twice, and receives 7 votes, we will give him 8 votes (a bonus vote for his 2nd nomination).

In the case of a tie, your staff will make an executive decision on the winner, or decide on co-OGers of the year!

Voting will close at the end of the year, as the clock strikes midnight AZ/MST time!

Thanks to everyone for nominating. Now vote!

From the desk of Phantom Stranger:

Today we shall be looking at the history of EC Comics, most famous as the publisher of MAD Magazine and many Horror/Thriller titles such as Crime SupenStories.

But how was EC formed? Well, to explain that, we must first look at the history of another company. Since the real meat of the matter is EC, I’ll be going over this as fast as possible, and I do apologize if things get slightly confusing, as some company name changes are incredibly close to one another.

In 1934, a man by the name of Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson had the idea to published comic books with new never before seen stories. Up until that point, comic books were simply reprints of news paper strips; an early form of a trade paper back if you will. Nicholson created the company National Allied Publications. By 1935, Nicholson’s company was failing horribly. Sales were poor and he lost many backers. Nicholson went to Harry Donenfeld at Independent News, who agreed to pick up N.A.P. However, this would mean that Nicholson would lose much control over anything the company owned.

Together they formed Detective Comics, Inc. In early 1938, Harry sued Nicholson for non payment, and Detective Comics, Inc went bankrupt. Harry would buy up both N.A.P and Detective Comics, Inc. Later, in 1938, Superman would make his first appearance under the National Allied Publications banner.
The two companies would eventually merge into National Publications, which in 1944 would buy All-American Publications, a company National promoted and did crossovers with quite often. After the buy out, National Publications would once again change names, this time becoming National Allied Periodicals.”

Since opening our doors on 03-08-2012, we have seen many, MANY personalities (some of them from the same person). We’ve seen ups and downs (mostly ups), unexpected growth, migrations, and a slew of multi-talented people who bless us every time that they sign in.

With 2012 coming to a close, it is time to ask you (our community) for your nominations for OGer of the Year. Which man or woman do you think set the bar on what an OGer is (or should be)? Who did the most for the community? Who made you laugh? Who was there when you needed help? Who was the most interesting?

From the desk of Steel:

“In 2002, the WWE brought up a new talent from OVW, a developmental, minor league of sorts for Professional Wrestlers preparing for the grand stage of the WWE Spotlight.

At 6′ 3″, 265 pounds, Brock Lesnar was already a force to be reckoned with, having an established amateur wrestling career as a 2-Time NJCAA All-American, NJCAA Heavyweight Champion, 2-Time NCAA All-American, 2-Time Big Ten Conference Champion and NCAA Heavyweight Champion. He burst on the scene in the WWE, mowing down everyone in his path. For almost a year, he said nothing..not a word during any promo from the South Dakota farmboy turned-Superstar, as he began to rise among the ranks. Brock, dubbed “The Next Big Thing” was indeed bigger than most other wrestlers with a technical arsenal to match.

After beating the likes of Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Undertaker and many other top names, as well as attaining the coveted World Heavyweight Championship, Brock decided to abruptly leave the WWE and the world of Sports Entertainment to pursue other ventures. At heart, he was a private family man and did not enjoy the lifestyle and rigors required to be a WWE Superstar, let alone the face of the company. After a stint in the UFC as their MMA World Heavyweight Champion, Brock came back to be come the “Next Biggest Thing” this time around. Brock is featured in Mattel’s Basic series 25 in the line for the very first time:”
